About the Role
The Meat Manager is responsible for maintaining a friendly neighborhood store environment while overseeing meat department operations, including inventory control, product preparation, and staff management to ensure customer satisfaction and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and courteous customer service
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations and company policies regarding meat operations, safety, and sanitation
- Manage weekly product orders to maintain adequate supply levels
- Achieve financial goals including sales, gross profit maximization, and minimization of shrink and supply expenses
- Enforce a clean-as-you-go policy for sanitary work conditions
- Process, prepare, and package products according to company policy
- Follow store procedures and shrink guidelines for conversions, markdowns, and discards
- Select, train, develop, and schedule meat department associates
- Complete all required department paperwork
- Monitor and maintain proper temperatures in coolers, prep areas, freezers, and cases
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Certified Meat Cutter
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
- Ability to operate knives, computerized scales, bandsaws, patty machines, high-pressure cleaners, pallet jacks, grinders, cubing machines, walkie stackers, wrapping machines, and balers/compactors
