About the Role

The Project Manager I will perform technical project management for information technology systems supporting the Wadsworth Center. This role involves managing project progress, defining scope, identifying dependencies, and developing schedules within budget and on time. The position also includes monitoring application availability and responding to end-user issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee project progress, defining project scope, identifying dependencies, and developing schedules.
  • Define, monitor, and report on key milestones and risks.
  • Work with project leads to track project activities.
  • Document system design.
  • Manage enhancement requests and defect remediation.
  • Coordinate meetings and lead daily stand-ups with the project team.
  • Coordinate with technical leads on development and testing activities.
  • Lead interactions with customers and subject matter experts, including human-centered design sessions.
  • Coordinate application deployments.
  • Author and coordinate knowledge articles.
  • Develop operational support plans.
  • Ensure IT projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
  • Monitor application availability and manage response to end-user issues.
  • Communicate and manage risks.
  • Perform administrative work to support project needs.
  • Supervise staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Occasional night/weekend work will be expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of experience in program administration or management, project management, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and seven years of such experience; OR nine years of such experience.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • At least three years of experience must have included supervision of staff.
  • Five years of experience managing a portfolio of information technology projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Previous experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and laboratory sample workflows.
  • Five years of experience in developing project management deliverables such as project scope documents, project plans, budgets, risk identification, mitigation plans, disaster recovery plans and project schedules.
  • Three years of experience in information technology testing.
  • Three years of experience in a governmental setting.
  • Three years of experience implementing Agile methodology.
  • Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time will be required.
  • The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location.
  • The selected candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
