About the Role
This leadership role involves driving strategic direction for AI initiatives by collaborating with Applied Science, Engineering, and Product teams. You will mentor a team of applied scientists, represent the company in the research community, and partner with academic faculty to build trustworthy, high-performance AI systems that enhance customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams of scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered platforms and solutions.
- Build AI foundation models through all phases of development, including design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
- Engage in high-impact applied research to integrate emerging AI developments into next-generation customer experiences.
- Leverage a broad technology stack to extract insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data.
- Translate complex technical work into tangible business goals.
- Guide and mentor a team of applied scientists.
- Represent the company in the research community and collaborate with prominent faculty members.
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields with 6 years of experience in Applied Research.
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields with 8 years of experience in Applied Research.
- At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
- Hands-on experience developing AI foundation models and solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.
- Deep understanding of AI methodology foundations.
- Experience building large deep learning models (language, images, events, or graphs).
- Expertise in training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, or RLHF.
- Track record of delivering models at scale regarding training data and inference volumes.
- Experience delivering libraries, platform-level code, or solution-level code.
- Track record of new ideas or improvements in machine learning, demonstrated by publications or projects.
- Ability to own and pursue a research agenda and carry out long-running projects.
