About the Role
As a member of the Business Development’s Pursuit team, the Pursuits & Directories Senior Manager will collaborate to create compelling deliverables that position the firm to win work. This role involves developing RFP responses, pitch materials, standard content, maintaining an experience library, and collaborating on directory submissions.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate conversations with attorney teams and leverage client intel to identify, create, and update differentiating information with clear value propositions and win themes.
- Act as project manager throughout the pitch and proposal response lifecycle, including opportunity assessments, tracking, developing project plans, organizing kick-off calls, gathering content, coordinating with pricing and BD colleagues, incorporating competitive intelligence, and ensuring high-quality submissions.
- Draft, edit, format, and review proposal documents to ensure adherence to requirements.
- Collaborate with BD & Marketing colleagues to coach lawyers on presentation skills for business development opportunities.
- Proactively extract pitch trends to identify potential BD opportunities and assess pipeline scalability.
- Ensure follow-up on opportunities to ascertain win/loss status.
- Lead teams and instill substantive practice or sector knowledge into approaches.
- Ensure projects managed by direct and indirect reports are well executed and best practices are shared.
- Maintain standard materials with input from BD and Marketing colleagues, ensuring consistent updates post-pitches.
- Prepare unique content and graphics to enhance proposal and pitch meeting documents.
- Work closely with other business development and marketing staff to identify creative ways to enhance proposal and presentation deliverables.
- Utilize and instill discipline in AI among teams to improve process and content creation.
- Work with groups to ensure the experience database is populated with accurate, updated, and correctly tagged pitch-ready descriptions, providing tailored and formatted experience lists.
- Work with relevant stakeholders and colleagues to draft Chambers and Legal500 directory submissions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven track record managing multi-practice, multijurisdictional, complex RFP responses.
- Ability to build pitch documents from the ground up in a client-centric manner.
- Extremely high level of professionalism and good judgment.
- Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with attorneys, staff, Pitch & Proposal team members, business development and marketing professionals, pricing staff, and others.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including establishing deadlines, pursuit team management, and ensuring project compliance and timely completion.
