About the Role

Responsibilities

• Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand.
• Greets customers, makes suggestions, and answers product questions.
• Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
• Takes customer orders accurately and with a positive attitude.
• Determines customer needs regarding size, flavor, and appearance.
• Sets up special-order tables during peak hours.
• Sets bakery cases and builds displays.
• Writes on cakes as needed.
• Ensures merchandise is fresh, saleable, and properly priced with correct signage.
• Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration product according to company procedures.
• Removes non-saleable product to ensure quality.
• Assists with the production of breads, pastries, and other baked goods.
• Adheres to use of production logs and company-approved recipes.
• Maintains general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines.
• Ensures work areas, equipment, and display cases meet health and OSHA requirements.
• Disposes of trash properly.
• Assists with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries.
• Operates power or hand jacks if properly trained.
• Assists with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained.
• Minimizes shrink and controls damages.
• Reports shortages or overages to the manager.
• Cooperates with co-workers and supervisors to ensure smooth department and store function.
• Continuously improves job performance.
• Utilizes all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Assists in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without accommodation.
• Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• No prior experience required.
