About the Role

The Career Coach supports Goodwill Central Texas employees by promoting engagement, identifying long-term goals, and removing barriers to professional growth. This role involves building relationships, providing resources, and facilitating problem-solving to help employees achieve their education, training, and employment objectives across all Goodwill divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Establish trusting relationships with employees and maintain consistent communication to monitor progress.
  • Collaborate within Goodwill Central Texas to connect clients with relevant trainings and services.
  • Build alliances with business line management to ensure business success and employee engagement.
  • Observe and address worksite behaviors that may impact employee retention.
  • Support employees in assessing and identifying services needed to achieve individualized goals.
  • Identify short and long-term goals within career plans, track acquisitions, and support transitions.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to support employment stability.
  • Intervene effectively in crisis situations with applicable interventions and follow-up plans.
  • Provide coaching in financial areas, including saving, budgeting, banking, and credit repair.
  • Maintain complete and accurate employee records in ECM and other required databases, adhering to data entry and confidentiality protocols.
  • Complete screening and intake for clients.
  • Synchronize with organizational needs by providing field insights and knowledge.
  • Highlight organizational growth opportunities or areas for improvement within the Employee Services Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation, Education, Human Services, Counseling, or a similar/related field.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer applications.
  • Knowledge of client assessment skills, community resource coordination, career planning principles, employability skills, and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of best practices in serving marginalized populations.
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing case management services to underserved populations.
  • Ability to conduct and/or translate training sessions bilingually is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation, Education, or Human Services is preferred.
  • Professional licensure (e.g., LMSW, CRC, LPC, LMFT) is preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, ASL, Arabic, Farsi) is preferred.
  • Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, liability insurance, and a reliable vehicle for travel are preferred.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Frequently required to walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to cope with and tolerate moderate levels of stress.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Post-offer background check is required.
