About the Role
We are seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design for complex projects while advancing toward leadership. This role offers a clear path to principal and ownership, emphasizing mentorship, collaborative design, and active participation in firm growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical and HVAC design for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and industrial projects from concept through construction administration.
- Perform and oversee load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping design, and energy modeling.
- Ensure designs comply with California Title 24, ASHRAE standards, and applicable building codes.
- Review and stamp drawings and calculations as the engineer of record.
- Collaborate directly with architects, contractors, and clients as the primary technical point of contact.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.
- Contribute to proposals, client relationships, and business development.
- Help shape internal standards, tools, and processes.
Requirements
- Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of HVAC design experience in a consulting engineering environment.
- Proficiency with Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, or equivalent load/energy modeling software.
- Strong working knowledge of Title 24 energy compliance and ASHRAE 90.1/62.1.
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD MEP.
- Track record of or interest in mentoring junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills.
