About the Role
Homes for the Homeless is seeking a dedicated Housing Specialist for our Families with Children facility in Jamaica, Queens. You will play a pivotal role in assisting families with creating exit strategies and securing permanent housing, contributing to our mission of helping families thrive.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload
- Conduct housing intakes
- Create exit strategies by exploring client needs
- Complete housing reports and maintain progress notes
- Meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly move-out targets
- Conduct monthly housing workshops
- Provide housing referrals and leads
- Develop and maintain relationships with DHS staff
- Cultivate relationships with brokers, agents, landlords, and community agencies
- Schedule apartment viewing appointments
- Accompany clients to open houses, viewings, and lease signings
Requirements
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Experience working with brokers and landlords
- Ability to travel by public transportation to all 5 boroughs and outside of NYC
Skills
- Bilingual skills preferred
