About the Role

The Visual Security Officer's primary responsibility is to deter theft, communicate suspicious activity, maintain a safe business environment, and provide strong customer service. This role is primarily stationed at customer entrances to monitor traffic.

Responsibilities

• Successfully complete all Loss Prevention training requirements and maintain personal certifications.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience, ensuring customers are the top priority.
• Acknowledge customers in a friendly and helpful manner upon entry/exit.
• Monitor high shortage areas, including receiving, and perform audit functions as needed.
• Use two-way communication devices to maintain contact with the Loss Prevention Team.
• Prepare prompt and complete reports on theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accident investigations, and audits.
• Maintain strict compliance with the law and company policies regarding apprehensions, searches, seizures, and evidence preservation.
• Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must own or be able to obtain a NYS Security license.
• No experience required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
• Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Resourceful self-starter, works well independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around the store or entrances.
• May occasionally involve reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Must be able to apprehend shoplifters.
• Ability to sustain long periods of time enclosed in surveillance areas.
• Frequently lift/move up to 30lbs.
