About the Role

The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for overall classroom management, including lesson planning, safety protocol, and maintaining positive relationships with families. This role works in a supportive, collegiate environment focused on early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and rich learning environment per FACES standards
• Supervise, coach, and mentor the classroom teaching team
• Support children’s growth in social-emotional, language, literacy, cognitive, and physical developmental areas
• Use age-appropriate positive guidance techniques and model behavior for children and staff
• Ensure positive teacher-child interactions and peer relationships
• Maintain and train staff on Community Care Licensing (CCL) standards and ensure teacher-child ratios
• Lead the teaching team in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety procedures, including health checks
• Lead weekly developmental observations and Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) assessments
• Create and maintain positive family relationships
• Communicate daily with parents regarding child milestones
• Prepare for and lead teacher-parent conferences
• Partner with internal support teams to address child and family needs
• Complete all required paperwork, program data, and administrative tasks
• Attend staff meetings and professional development trainings

Requirements

• Maintain California Child Development Teacher Permit or higher
• Two or more years of classroom experience in an ECE setting
• Demonstrated commitment to working with families from marginalized communities
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team and independently
• Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, self-motivation, and reliability
• Ability to meet state, federal, local, and FACES standards including fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, and CPR
• Ability to meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, bending, sitting on the floor, and active supervision
• Commitment to aligning program practices with FACES values of justice, equity, and inclusion
