About the Role
Nexus Family Healing is seeking a Behavior Specialist for our on-campus school, New Dominion School. This role provides academic therapeutic crisis intervention services to youth, aiming for positive outcomes and brighter futures.
Responsibilities
- Maintains orderly student transitions during key times, including arrivals, class changes, departures, and outings.
- Ensures student compliance with rules regarding personal conduct, appearance, hygiene, grooming, and behavior goals.
- Participates in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) behavior goals and progress meetings.
- Complies with Nexus policies on privacy and confidentiality for students and families.
- Exhibits clear, professional, and respectful communication with clients, coworkers, families, and external contacts.
- Engages in crisis interventions and applies de-escalation techniques while maintaining appropriate boundaries with students.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a school, day treatment, or residential treatment setting with a focus on behavior intervention.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements.
- Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals and communities.
- Openness to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities.
- Must successfully pass a MN criminal background check.
- Must successfully complete a two-day Handle with Care exam and training.
