About the Role
The Program Leader facilitates youth development through direct group mentoring, lesson delivery, and after-school activity management. This role focuses on fostering academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development for youth ages 6 to 18 while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for all youth participants
- Create and lead engaging after-school programs and activities for groups of approximately 10 youth
- Design age-appropriate lesson plans that promote personal growth, educational achievement, and character development
- Act as a positive role model and mentor to foster self-esteem and development
- Establish standards and expectations grounded in mutual respect
- Partner with junior-level colleagues to meet program goals and share best practices
Requirements
- 2+ years of youth development experience with ages 6–18
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and develop curriculum
- Strong positive disciplinary skills and ability to manage youth behaviors
- Proven communication, organizational, and self-starter abilities
- Ability to follow systems and procedures in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively
- Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods
- Completion of LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis evaluation
