About the Role
The General Merchandise (GM) Manager is responsible for overseeing general merchandise and health/beauty products, ensuring product availability, and providing excellent customer service. This role involves managing inventory, sales, and staff to uphold the company's vision of a friendly neighborhood store.
Responsibilities
- Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding GM operations, safety, and sanitation.
- Fulfill or oversee weekly product orders while adhering to store policy to maintain adequate supply levels.
- Adhere to company policy through proper receiving, handling, storing, and stocking of product.
- Achieve financial goals such as sales, gross profit maximization, and minimization of shrink and supply expense.
- Maintain proper shelf conditions regarding pricing, cleaning, straightening, rotating, and facing of product.
- Adhere to shelf management by following suggested plan-o-gram layouts and managing new/discontinued products.
- Manage selection, training, development, and scheduling of GM associates.
- File all necessary paperwork required for the General Merchandise department.
- Help keep the backroom clean and orderly by organizing the GM area, making bales, and stacking pallets.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- Possess strong communication skills.
