About the Role
This role involves supervising personnel, managing front-of-the-house customer service, and overseeing daily operations in a food service or retail environment. Responsibilities include staff management, problem resolution, cash handling, and ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise subordinate personnel, assigning work duties and ensuring satisfactory performance.
- Procure necessary equipment and facilities for employees.
- Provide coaching, discipline, counseling, and skill development for employees.
- Administer first aid and seek medical treatment for employees.
- Enforce compliance with operational procedures, policies, safety, sanitation, and union contracts/employee handbooks.
- Maintain customer service standards during shifts.
- Handle customer issues, including approving credit, resolving service or food quality problems, and managing accidents or incidents.
- Address operational issues such as finding substitute staff, evaluating stocking and cleaning needs, and managing customer traffic.
- Answer customer questions in person or via email.
- Perform initial troubleshooting of cash register and equipment problems.
- Sample and review products for presentation to customers.
- Ensure proper food sanitation, including reviewing temperature logs.
- Open and close the operation, ensuring unit and product security.
- Handle cash and set up cash registers.
- Manage off-site services and special theme events.
- Ensure prompt, efficient, and HACCP compliant delivery of food items.
- Package food, beverages, and equipment for proper transport or holding.
- Ensure security, timely set-up, and proper display for events.
- Act as a communication hub for information regarding CAS services, pricing, and policies.
- Communicate in writing and verbally with campus members and users regarding CAS services.
- Perform floor management and supervise immediate issues.
- Complete assigned management tasks and projects.
- Direct the daily work of employees.
- Act in the best interest of the corporation, adhering to ethical standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Three years of experience in food service or retail sales.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to drive a company vehicle may be required, with a driver's license free of high-risk factors.
- Must conduct actions and decisions in the best interest of the corporation.
- Must follow ethical standards set by CAS, SUNY Cortland, and professional practices.
Skills
- Computing skills for cash change, inventory, and portion calculation.
- Ability to read and comprehend product labels, recipes, and safety instructions.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- Proficient with office equipment.
- Ability to effectively motivate, train, and supervise employees.
- Ability to interact diplomatically with customers, coworkers, and vendors.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks in various locations and determine task order with limited supervision.
