About the Role
Kensington Square, a DePaul Community Residence-Single Room Occupancy (CR-SRO) Program, is hiring a PT Relief Cook to prepare and serve meals, ensuring they meet nutritional standards and dietary needs of residents.
Responsibilities
- Serve food at the proper temperature.
- Follow recipes when preparing meals.
- Assist in serving meals attractively and in proper portions.
- Perform advanced food preparation while maintaining product quality.
- Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures and ensure Dietary Assistants follow safety protocols.
- Wear attire suitable and safe for the position.
- Organize and ensure sanitation of storerooms, refrigeration units, and kitchen and dining areas.
- Supervise the maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of assigned culinary equipment and work areas.
- Observe and evaluate meal service quality, diet appropriateness, quantity, temperature, and appearance in the dining room to ensure resident satisfaction.
- Follow all food safety protocols when storing and disposing of leftover foods.
- Supervise Dietary Assistants and oversee the Dietary Department in the absence of the Director.
- Ensure the security of all dietary items and prevent loss.
- Respect and maintain resident confidentiality and demonstrate a caring, positive attitude.
- Participate in staff meetings and attend agency-required trainings.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations for self, residents, and staff.
- Perform any other duties necessary for the effective operation of the programs.
Requirements
- At least one-year work experience as a cook in a restaurant or in a large volume food service program is required.
- Must be at least Eighteen (18) years of age.
