About the Role

Corning's Environmental Technologies segment seeks a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Process Engineer to assist in the design, development, testing, and optimization of advanced cellular ceramic substrates and particulate filters to help customers meet new environmental standards. You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful creation and implementation of innovative material solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of ceramic materials for specific applications.
  • Conduct material testing, including mechanical, thermal, and chemical analyses, to evaluate properties and performance.
  • Support the improvement of manufacturing processes for ceramic materials, including forming, sintering, and machining.
  • Stay updated on advancements in ceramic materials and contribute ideas for innovative solutions and applications.
  • Collect and analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and document findings to support product development and project goals.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance activities to ensure materials meet required specifications.
  • Work closely with other engineers, scientists, and technicians to achieve project objectives and troubleshoot issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in engineering discipline (ceramic, materials, or chemical preferred).
  • 1+ years’ experience in manufacturing or engineering or equivalent.
  • This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

Skills

  • Basic understanding of ceramic materials, properties, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with material characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, XRD, TGA, etc.) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CAD software and modeling tools is desirable but not required.
  • Experience using problem solving methods such as KT, MEE and Six-Sigma.
  • Strong ceramic processing and raw materials comprehension (selection, beneficiation, characterization, and impact on process characteristics).
  • Demonstrated results developing and delivering step change innovations to manufacturing.
  • Knowledge with statistical process control and Design of Experiments methods.
  • Application of Six-Sigma methods.
  • Technical expertise in process improvement, measurement, characterization, or ceramics processing.
