Responsibilities
- Keep the produce department well-stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
- Greet customers, answer questions, handle special requests, and resolve concerns promptly.
- Unpack merchandise, clean and trim produce, and stock the department.
- Ensure merchandise is in saleable condition by rotating stock and applying correct signage.
- Maintain the salad bar and prepare cut fruits and vegetables as needed.
- Assist in building attractive displays and completing product logs.
- Handle spoiled, damaged, new, and discontinued products according to company policy.
- Maintain general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines.
- Dispose of trash properly.
- Assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages.
- Report shortages and overages to the manager.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, and storing deliveries, potentially operating power or hand jacks (training provided).
- Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (training provided).
- Cooperate with co-workers and superiors to ensure smooth department and store function.
- Continuously improve job performance.
- Utilize all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without accommodation.
- Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- No prior experience required.
