About the Role
Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925. CGL prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians, primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, CGL offers customized services including uniformed guard, mobile response, by-law enforcement, and identification services. This posting is for an existing vacancy for a Commissionaire.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and clarifies resident needs, answers questions, and provides directions.
- Manages and screens messages.
- Schedules access for authorized vendors.
- Maintains guest privacy and organizational reputation by keeping information confidential.
- Ensures all safety and access control procedures are followed.
- Maintains a safe work environment.
- Provides protection to clients, residents, and property.
- Observes floors and stairways for obstructions and fire hazards.
- Ensures access doors to sensitive/priority areas are locked.
- Identifies deficiencies in the physical building that could cause injury or loss of assets.
- Enforces client rules, regulations, and laws.
- Assists Police and Medical Staff when required.
- Provides exceptional customer service to clients, customers, contractors, and visitors.
- Performs routine property patrols and responds to emergencies and fire alarms.
- Completes daily documentation, occurrence logs, and incident reports.
- Performs pre and post inspections of guest suites and party rooms.
- Conducts pool tests as required.
- Follows all on-site procedures, including employee handbook policies, training checklists, standing orders, and client policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to complete frequent patrols
- Ability to speak/read/communicate in English fluently
- Excellent customer service and reception skills
- Ability to work alone while maintaining a high level of service
- Must be highly reliable
- Must work well under pressure
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must have the ability to multitask
- Must be a professional who takes pride in dress, deportment, and performance
