About the Role
As an Environmental Specialist, you will support clients on-site by managing their hazardous waste programs and projects, utilizing state and federal regulations. This role reports to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of OSHA regulations and Triumvirate’s Health and Safety practices.
- Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creating federal/state waste documents and managing related paperwork.
- Handle hazardous waste containers safely on client sites and load/unload waste from vehicles.
- Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections.
- Occasionally perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits for clients.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by providing outstanding support and innovative solutions.
- Develop expertise in state and federal regulations to ensure client compliance (e.g., RCRA, DOT, and OSHA).
- Conduct spill response measures, including assessment and cleanup efforts.
- Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities as part of the Emergency Response team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the hazardous-waste industry, or relevant military experience.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for client and stakeholder interaction.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies.
- Skilled in building strong, positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Ability to work overtime on a regular basis.
- Willingness to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday).
- Ability to complete a 2 to 3 year professional advancement program in hazardous waste management.
- Must be able to report to the Astoria office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts.
- Valid US driver’s license.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation.
- Willingness to consent to pre-employment physical and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.
