About the Role

Okta is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join the Universal Directory Platform team. This team is the intelligent core of the enterprise security fabric, responsible for managing the source of truth for all identity assets and their relationships. The role involves developing, designing, and maintaining a highly performant, reliable, and scalable platform critical for managing user lifecycles, groups, and memberships.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Okta's identity management group codebase and development process, including Jira, Technical Designs, Code Review, Testing, and Deployment.
  • Develop and implement frameworks and toolings for the Universal Directory Service platform.
  • Design and implement high-performance, distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software components.
  • Quickly deliver high-quality bug fixes and handle customer-reported issues.
  • Conduct quality code reviews and automated testing.
  • Partner with Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams for scoping development and deployment work.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Software Development experience in Java, with significant experience in Hibernate and Spring Boot.
  • 5+ years of development experience building services, internal tools, and frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience automating and deploying large-scale production services in AWS, GCP, or similar cloud environments.
  • Hands-on understanding of the practical application of SQL databases.
  • Experience working with systems of scale, ranging from monolithic applications to microservices.
  • Ability to work effectively with distributed teams and people of various backgrounds.
