About the Role

Ensures customer retention and the profitability of the new and previously used car profit centers by managing personnel and demonstrating market knowledge, performance standards, and profitability thresholds.

Responsibilities

  • Plans monthly and yearly objectives for sales, gross turnover, and essential expenses.
  • Prepares and manages the department’s annual operating budget.
  • Follows up on all potential buyers by creating, implementing, and monitoring a customer search and sales control system.
  • Creates, implements, and manages a system to follow up on buyers of new and previously used cars.
  • Provides daily updates on floor activities to supervisor.
  • Works with the sales team on programs to increase gross earnings from new cars and after-sales marketing penetration.
  • Contacts financial institutions to approve exceptional cases.
  • Monitors lease renewal activities and analyzes reports to ensure portfolio profitability.
  • Manages the department’s marketing and advertising activities, cooperating in promotional campaigns.
  • Ensures all customers are introduced to the marketing director.
  • Fills in completed transaction sheets and forwards them to accounting.
  • Establishes and maintains standards for car delivery to customers.
  • Ensures the first after-sales department appointment is arranged at the time of delivery.
  • Processes sales consultants’ commission sheets and verifies their payroll.
  • Assists the used car department in evaluating trade-ins.
  • Analyzes customer satisfaction reports and submits recommendations for customer retention and loyalty.
  • Stays informed of federal, provincial, and municipal regulations governing new car sales.
  • Keeps current on manufacturer’s product, program, and promotional novelties, and notifies the sales team of changes.
  • Completes all required training for the management position and manufacturer/brand training.
  • Completes all tasks and training as required by the Director and General Manager.
  • Checks new and used car inventory daily for balance and efficient rotation.
  • Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding new and used car stock.
  • Monitors customer tastes, lost sales, sales history, and market trends to select stock and ensure balanced purchasing.
  • Analyzes advertising to find vehicles in good condition with low odometer readings.
  • Implements a turnover policy for used cars.
  • Exchanges vehicles with other dealers.
  • Plans and manages the display of vehicles in the showroom and parking area.
  • Evaluates all used cars, ensures titles are in order, and checks mechanical condition and bodywork.
  • Applies and updates required stickers for sale and lease of automobiles by the Consumer Protection Act.
  • Ensures used vehicles for retail are covered by the legal warranty of fitness.
  • Stays up-to-date on the used car market and current evaluations.
  • Manages the reconditioning of used vehicles.
  • Ensures reconditioning costs and time do not exceed forecasts.
  • Creates and maintains a field network for purchasing and selling cars.
  • Attends auctions and purchases vehicles.
  • Monitors earnings from auction purchases and compares gross profit to trade-ins.
  • Notifies concerned individuals of scheduled car delivery dates.
  • Monitors lost sales.
  • Develops and manages wholesale activities.
  • Chairs daily and weekly sales team meetings and implements training systems for sales consultants.
  • Trains and motivates reporting personnel and participates in hiring.
  • Conducts formal performance evaluations of reporting personnel.
  • Helps sales consultants set and attain monthly objectives.
  • Assists sales consultants with transactions and customer meetings.
  • Ensures sales consultants understand and comply with dealership sales policies.
  • Monitors sales consultants' efforts to improve customer image and satisfaction.
  • Encourages teamwork in a client-focused sales environment.
  • Maintains efficient communication within and between departments.
  • Takes part in management meetings.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Performs other tasks as required by management.

Requirements
