About the Role

The Network Engineer plays a hands-on technical role in supporting and maintaining MCU’s Network ecosystem, including remote sites, branch offices, corporate offices, and data centers. This position serves as a frontline technical resource, ensuring IT infrastructure operates efficiently, reliably, and securely.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of network devices.
  • Verify network connectivity and diagnose basic network performance issues.
  • Support wired and wireless network deployments.
  • Assist with structured cabling installations, cable management and break/fix wiring.
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems and business applications.
  • Apply patches, updates, and security configurations.
  • Support enterprise software deployment initiatives.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and effective support to employees and members.
  • Communicate technical information clearly.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach while resolving technical issues.
  • Create and maintain accurate service records, supporting documentation, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Assist with maintaining IT inventory and asset tracking systems.
  • Prepare status updates and reports.
  • Follow organizational IT security policies and procedures.
  • Identify and report potential security risks or vulnerabilities.
  • Support compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and special projects as requested.

Requirements

  • Requires daily travel within the New York Metro area and surrounding locations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar IT-related role.
  • Availability for 24x7 support, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Knowledge of network device operating systems, Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, computer hardware and peripherals, and mobile device support.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts, network fundamentals, and basic cybersecurity practices.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Exposure to server rooms, telecommunications closets, and technical workspaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb short ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Strong diagnostic and technical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Takes ownership of support tasks and ensures completion.
  • Works cooperatively with IT team members and stakeholders.
  • Learns and applies new technologies and procedures quickly.
