About the Role

The Assistant Director of HR will be an integral member of the HR Department, reporting to the Sr. Director of HR. This role requires expertise in employment laws, benefits, and employee relations, supporting the Agency’s strategic plan and recruitment efforts. The ADHR will foster a culture of change, innovation, collaboration, respect, and accountability, ensuring HR policies and programs are effective, equitable, and promote a positive work environment aligned with core values and the Sanctuary Model.

Responsibilities

  • Model excellent customer service to employees, candidates, and the community.
  • Ensure full understanding of benefits, including eligibility and options, and assist with enrollment and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate HR practices, procedures, benefits, and strategies for fairness and equity.
  • Support employee relations efforts, including conducting investigations, attending mediations, and assisting managers with progressive discipline.
  • Supervise the HR Assistant and Receptionist/Office Assistant.
  • Provide training and guidance to the HR Assistant on leave of absence requests, FMLA, PFL, and other relevant laws.
  • Provide training and guidance to the HR Assistant on Workers’ Compensation reporting and review.
  • Supervise the Receptionist/HR Office Assistant, including front desk responsibilities, purchasing, and mail.
  • Communicate personnel and other issues to Senior leadership.
  • Represent the Agency on internal and external committees, ensuring timely information sharing and implementation of updates.
  • Represent the Agency at all personnel-related meetings or hearings.
  • Take an active role in training and mentoring new and current staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or senior management.
  • Support the overall strategic plan of the organization.
  • Adhere to the organization's core values and commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of relevant experience in an HR management role.
  • Experience must include performance and change management, employee relations, and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Exemplary organization skills are a must.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Data and Technology savvy: able to evaluate new ways to leverage technology, improve processes, engage staff, and model data for decision making.
  • Ability to interpret, synthesize, and present qualitative and quantitative engagement data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent customer service, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device.
  • Ability to reach, walk, sit, climb stairs, and bend.
  • Ability to lift 20lbs.
  • Visual acuity (with correction as needed).
  • Auditory acuity (with correction as needed).
  • Must have a driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to meet requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
