About the Role

The Asset Manager supports the Asset Management Department in overseeing an affordable housing portfolio, including Supportive (SRO) and Family properties, as well as commercial assets. This role evaluates property performance, supports budgeting and forecasting, assists with capital planning, and contributes to long-term asset strategies to preserve affordable housing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analytical and operational support for the affordable housing portfolio in Austin and DFW metros.
  • Monitor property performance against annual plans, budgets, and long-term strategies.
  • Create and maintain asset-level business plans and track progress toward strategic goals.
  • Evaluate affordability compliance milestones to support preservation strategies.
  • Plan and track capital improvement projects in collaboration with the Capital Projects Division.
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly financial results, including variances and key operating metrics.
  • Prepare and maintain internal asset management reports, dashboards, and performance summaries.
  • Support asset-level transactions such as refinancing, recapitalizations, and dispositions.
  • Manage property tax administration, including exemption applications and filing processes.
  • Oversee reserve management.
  • Collaborate with Capital Projects, Sustainability, Property Management, and Compliance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience in multifamily or affordable housing, finance, operations, or underwriting.
  • Strong analytical skills with an understanding of financial statements and property-level performance metrics.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to visit property and construction sites with uneven surfaces.
  • Access to reliable transportation for off-site meetings.

Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with AI tools and workflows including prompt engineering and automation.
  • Understanding of multifamily or affordable housing portfolios.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation and real estate transaction processes.
  • Understanding of affordable housing financing and compliance structures like LIHTC or HUD.
