About the Role

Shepherd Village is seeking a Dietary Aide to support the Food & Nutrition Services department in either a long-term care or retirement setting. This role is key to ensuring the overall care, comfort, and satisfaction of each Resident and Guest during mealtimes.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall care and satisfaction of each Resident and Guest during mealtimes
• Assist Residents during meals in a respectful and supportive manner
• Serve meals in accordance with therapeutic diet orders
• Transport dishes to and from the kitchen before and after mealtimes
• Represent Shepherd Village in a courteous and professional manner
• Maintain amicable relationships with staff, Residents and their families

Requirements

• Food Handlers Certificate required
• Grade 12 diploma required
• Previous food service experience in long-term care or retirement preferred
• Proficient in food preparation and serving techniques
• Proven safe food handling practices
• Motivated to provide high quality work & work in an efficient manner
• Excellent customer service skills & communication
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including standing for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including push, pull, lift & carry up to 20lbs or 9kg (max)
• Ability to accept & follow directions and follow company policies and procedures
• Able to build & maintain good working relationships with residents & coworkers
• Successful candidates must provide a complete and current (i.e. within six months prior to hire date) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
