About the Role
As a Design Engineer, you will prepare schematics, layout drawings, bills of materials, and submittals for electrical control panels in accordance with UL508A and NEC standards. You will collaborate with end-users, engineers, and project managers to create high-quality industrial control systems while solving challenging application problems.
Responsibilities
- Draft electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD
- Develop BOMs, I/O lists, and control panel requirements
- Interpret client specifications and communicate with customers to understand objectives
- Analyze vendor data sheets to determine component functionality
- Apply knowledge of fabrication techniques, UL standards, and field installation to develop drawing packages
- Document control panel designs, revisions, and updates
- Troubleshoot startup issues related to drawings, specifications, or technical changes
- Collaborate with project managers and estimators to assess projects and submit proposals
- Conduct field site visits to assess project conditions
- Serve as technical lead and mentor for the design department, including supervising Designers and Drafters
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering degree from a 4-year university or equivalent industrial electrical experience
- 5+ years of experience in industrial controls
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to take initiative and handle ambiguity
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Completion of pre-employment drug screen
