About the Role
As a CO+I CE Field Service Engineer (FSE), you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services. CO+I is focused on personal and professional development, offering trainings and growth opportunities. Our infrastructure supports over 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide, with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
- Engages with appropriate teams and resources to execute tasks or projects.
- Manages programs associated with area of responsibility.
- Demonstrates conscientiousness on cost and adheres to budget requirements.
- Follows and adheres to safety and security policies and procedures.
- Participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process.
- Maximizes Critical Environment (CE) availability in leased Datacenters.
- Oversees day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in leased Datacenters.
- Reduces high-impact and human-error Critical Environment (CE) incidents.
- Delivers on cost/energy efficiency initiatives.
- Supports delivery of the Datacenter’s Emergency Preparedness and Response plans.
- Acts as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within leased datacenters.
- Coordinates, plans, schedules, and supervises CE audits and compliance verification.
- Ensures routine reporting for Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity, and SLA monitoring.
- Establishes and enhances working relationships with Engineering Groups (EGs) and Landlord partners.
- Works with regional and global peers to share best practices.
- Shares best practices and assists others in learning role, processes, and procedures.
- Provides mentorship across data centers for specific expertise.
- Seeks training opportunities that meet business and career goals.
- Suggests ways for reducing risk of performing maintenance.
- Suggests improvements in implementation based on depth of understanding.
- Contributes to a positive team environment by learning and adopting best practices.
- Contributes constructively during team meetings and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
- Holds self accountable for end-to-end service quality, completeness, and customer experience.
- Supports escalation of issues to appropriate owner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ year(s) industry experience in a datacenter or other critical environment facility, OR 3+ years industry experience and college course work.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Requires verification of Australian Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
- Must have a valid Australian passport to verify citizenship.
- May require an enhanced background check conducted through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.
Skills
