About the Role

The CNP Food Service Specialist – Part-Time assists with the operation of a food preparation and service establishment. Responsibilities include serving customers, stocking supplies, operating equipment, maintaining clean areas, and operating point of sales (POS) systems. This role works under the supervision of a Cafeteria Manager and involves serving food, preparing ingredients, following recipes, monitoring students during meal periods, and performing cleaning duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in food preparation, food safety, and food quality assurance for students.
  • Provide customer service and interact with staff, students, and families daily.
  • Operate food service equipment and maintain food service spaces and equipment, notifying the manager of any malfunctions.
  • Assist with cafeteria cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, and disposing of trash.
  • Move cafeteria tables and mobile work vending stations.
  • Load and unload food and non-food products on a weekly basis.
  • Encourage students to participate in the meal program.
  • Ensure accurate counts of student meals are performed as meals are delivered.
  • Ensure reimbursable meals are offered to students.
  • Ensure meals are ready according to campus meal schedules for breakfast, lunch, snack, and supper.
  • Follow all recipes and report errors to the Cafeteria Manager.
  • Follow all established processes and procedures, discussing with the Cafeteria Manager any situations where they cannot be fully followed.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of work experience demonstrating the ability to handle physical activity for multiple hours while on feet.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds via solo lift and up to 50 pounds with a partner.
  • Ability to bend, pull, push, twist, stand, and walk while on duty or during a work shift.
  • Ability to obtain a locally-recognized manager food safety certification.
  • Intermittent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder).
  • Ability to withstand moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • Ability to move and handle mixed weights including cafeteria tables, carts, and trash cans/bags.
