About the Role

Wheelcare Express Inc. is seeking full-time drivers to transport clients to and from medical appointments and other engagements. Many clients are disabled and may require wheelchair or gurney transport. This role is ideal for individuals who prefer not to be in an office all day, possess an excellent driving record, and are compassionate, friendly, and enjoy helping people.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to various locations in medical transport vehicles safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
• Observe and follow all traffic rules and regulations.
• Inspect vehicles before each shift, checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering for safe operation.
• Notify supervisor of mechanical defects or needed repairs.
• Report and document all accidents, vehicle damage, client incidents, and mechanical failures.
• Complete trip documentation, primarily using phone applications.
• Maintain assigned vehicle cleanliness and ensure it is fueled.
• Operate wheelchair and gurney lifts.
• Communicate effectively with Dispatch.
• Adhere to safety and COVID protocols.
• Instruct clients on safe riding rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• Must be at least 23 years old.
• Ability to pass an alcohol and drug test.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass First Aid & CPR training.
• Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical.
• Must possess a positive attitude, good communication skills, and be empathetic and polite.
