About the Role

Support the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in modernizing, operating, and monitoring its Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This role focuses on transitioning workloads into a standardized, secure, and governed Azure Cloud Landing Zone, implementing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code, and ensuring stable, compliant Azure operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assess existing Azure resources and identify configuration gaps against approved architecture standards.
  • Support migration of subscriptions and workloads into a standardized Azure Cloud Landing Zone.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code for Azure environment builds and updates.
  • Configure and maintain Azure monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions across compute, networking, storage, identity, and security services.
  • Monitor Azure environments proactively to identify performance, availability, and security issues.
  • Perform incident response and root cause analysis for Azure operational issues.
  • Coordinate with TxDOT, DIR, and Shared Technology Services teams to maintain stable and compliant Azure operations.
  • Support remediation of cloud security vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, dashboards, and operational runbooks.
  • Communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal formats to support enterprise cloud operations.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related IT roles.
  • 4-7 years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Azure, including experience in Azure Government (Azure.gov) environments or other regulated cloud platforms.
  • 4-7 years of experience implementing and supporting Azure infrastructure components such as compute, networking, storage, identity, and security services.
  • 4-7 years of experience with Azure monitoring and logging to support performance, availability, security visibility, and incident response.
  • 4-7 years of experience assisting with cloud migrations or modernization efforts, including moving workloads into standardized cloud environments such as an Azure Cloud Landing Zone.
  • 4-7 years of experience using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform).
  • Working knowledge of cloud security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting operational activities including monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work independently in a structured enterprise or government environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
  • Direct experience working in Azure Government (Azure.gov) supporting state or federal workloads.
  • Experience supporting Texas DIR and/or TxDOT cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with DIR Shared Technology Services (STS) standards, processes, and governance.
  • Experience supporting or implementing an Azure Landing Zone in a government or highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premises systems with Azure Government.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate).
  • Local candidates only; must currently live within 50 miles of the Austin, Texas work location.
