About the Role
The Sports Coach is responsible for planning and leading daily sports instruction for elementary and middle school students during the U1 Enrich to 6 After-School Program. Coaches create a fun, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment where students improve their athletic skills while building confidence and enjoying physical activity.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging sports activities for students in grades K–8.
- Teach age-appropriate skills, rules, and game concepts.
- Create a safe, energetic, and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt instruction to varying skill levels.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
- Build positive relationships with students.
- Assist with transitions, setup/breakdown, and equipment.
- Collaborate with Program Leaders, Academic Success Coaches, and specialty instructors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience coaching or working with youth.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- College student or degree in Education, PE, Kinesiology or related field.
- Coaching certifications.
- CPR/First Aid.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
