About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Catering Services Manager to focus on both Social & Corporate Markets. This role involves soliciting and developing new catering leads to increase hotel utilization and maximize revenues. You will qualify and develop new catering and group room business through outside sales, direct mail, and telephone solicitations, while fostering existing client relationships to maximize catering revenue and services with superior customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Quote and negotiate space, dates, and rates to achieve catering and accommodation revenue goals.
- Prepare and present hotel features and benefits to prospective clients.
- Conduct tours and site inspections for prospective clients.
- Prepare professional proposals, contracts, and Banquet Event Orders with proper guarantees.
- Receive, handle, and convert Meetings, Events, and Group inquiries.
- Present and sell available banquet/event options to the highest possible standard.
- Meet with clients to ensure every detail of their function is executed.
- Increase catering business through new business development and 24-hour follow-up on existing inquiries.
- Confirm event details with clients and organize/distribute information to applicable departments.
- Effectively manage bookings to assist in achieving hotel revenue targets.
- Assist in developing and soliciting catering menus, capacity charts, floor plans, and packages.
- Assist with controlling labor and food costs.
- Communicate effectively with hotel operational departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate suppliers for clients as necessary.
- Maintain excellent relationships with third-party suppliers.
- Conduct pre-convention meetings as required.
- Be available to assist clients while on site.
- Be flexible to work evenings, weekends, or extended hours.
- Stay current with all food and beverage trends.
- Collect market and competitive intelligence and adjust strategy as required.
- Direct outside sales calls as required.
- Attend trade and travel shows for promoting hotel event business.
- Implement brand strategy into all areas of the sales process, including Bonvoy Rewards.
- Support Marriott’s Customer Service Standards and Delta’s Brand Standards and Hotel policies.
- Prepare weekly and monthly action plans for review by the Director of Sales.
- Complete reporting, including Catering Forecasting, Sales Reports, and Action Plans.
- Post-group follow-up and handling to encourage repeat business.
- Build strong relationships with customers to understand their needs.
- Ensure all inquiries are recorded accurately in CI/TY.
- Assist the hotel in identifying new avenues of business and increasing banquet events.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned by management within the job scope.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hotel experience, preferably in Hotel Front Office, Sales, Catering, or Food and Beverage.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Extreme attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality, consistent service.
- High level of creativity and sales execution strategies.
- Food and Beverage/General Hotel Operations Knowledge.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn specialized software.
- Maintain a positive attitude in a busy environment.
- Must have a driver's license and access to a vehicle.
