About the Role

Allied Consultants, Inc is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to play a key role within a high-impact technical services team. The role involves advanced database administration tasks for applications with complex data models, workflows, and reports, assisting in the creation and maintenance of logical and physical data models.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced database administration tasks for databases used by applications with complex data models, workflows, and reports.
  • Assist the team in creating and maintaining logical and physical data models.
  • Work with Full-stack Java applications on client’s cloud platform (Azure/AWS) within an Agile (Scrum) environment.
  • Migrate data from Oracle applications to SQL schemas and load it into collections.
  • Optimize database performance during and after migration.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Implement monitoring solutions to track database health and performance metrics.
  • Perform database tuning, indexing, customization, transformation, data migrations/conversions, installations, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching, user management, security of data at rest and in motion, disaster recovery, clustering for high availability and load balancing, data backup, purging and archiving, implementation of database policies, data replication and backup to secondary sites like disaster recovery environments.
  • Ensure procedures for the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of sensitive and business-critical databases.
  • Convert Oracle Stored Procedures and Functions to Azure SQL.
  • Enter codes to create production databases.
  • Select and enter codes of utility programs to monitor database performance.
  • Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to database management systems.
  • Review and correct programs.
  • Answer user questions.
  • Confer with coworkers to determine the impact of database changes on other systems and staff costs.
  • Modify database programs to increase processing performance (performance tuning).
  • Provide assistance in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems.
  • Ensure conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with structural parameters within the database environment.
  • Evaluate users' requests for new data elements and systems, incorporate them into the existing shared data environment, and provide technical assistance.
  • Coordinate the use of data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy.
  • Load databases and reorganize as needed.
  • Perform data modeling and prototyping.
  • Perform logical and physical data modeling, design relational database models, and create physical data models from logical data models.
  • Perform security recovery procedures.
  • Determine and implement database search strategies and storage requirements.
  • Maintain data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and set standards for its use.
  • Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Create test database environments for applications sections.
  • Execute procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures.
  • Assist with determining, implementing, and enhancing standards on database security.
  • Assist with monitoring agency disaster recovery procedures and systems.
  • Assist with the installation of database software.
  • Assist with analyzing, designing, and implementing databases.
  • Assist in benchmarking and threshold testing of databases.
  • Assist in establishing and controlling necessary database security.
  • Assist in the selection of database management software.
  • Ensure that user interfaces for database administration and data input/output are compliant with accessibility standards.
  • Provide support to users in obtaining data/information when EIR Accessibility issues arise.
