About the Role

Behavior Technicians (BTs) will work in home and school settings on Long Island, providing direct behavior-analytic services to clients. BTs will follow behavior intervention plans designed and supervised by a BCBA, working with individuals to develop and improve skills in communication, social interactions, daily living, and academic performance. The role involves collecting data on client progress and participating in team meetings. Training and certification are provided for those new to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Implement behavior intervention plans, including skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Accurately record data on client behaviors and progress towards goals.
  • Implement various teaching methods, such as Discrete Trial training and Natural Environment Teaching.
  • Work directly with clients in various settings to promote skill development and behavior change.
  • Assist BCBAs in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and other assessments.
  • Attend training sessions and receive ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with supervisors, team members, clients, and their families.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including progress notes, session summaries, and incident reports.
  • Adhere to the ethical guidelines and standards of the BACB.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Able to pass a background check.
