About the Role
As a Business Data Analyst within the Assumed Administration team, you will act as a data administrator responsible for the ingestion, validation, reconciliation, and controlled maintenance of client data within operational databases supporting the North America Life portfolio. The role is focused on data integrity, audit readiness, and compliance with internal controls, ensuring accurate financial and operational reporting. This position supports business operations through hands-on data administration and analysis rather than information systems design or IT consulting.
Responsibilities
- Process, validate, and administer incoming client data files within governed operational data repositories.
- Perform data mapping, manual data entry, and verification to support standardized data models and controlled data structures.
- Investigate and resolve client data issues and discrepancies through structured data analysis and validation controls.
- Ensure data completeness, accuracy, and consistency across source and target systems.
- Ensure monthly data loads meet defined performance and control metrics.
- Update accounting and operational databases with client cashflows and reconcile data discrepancies across systems.
- Verify premium, allowance, and tax calculations using reconciled and controlled data sets for assumed policies.
- Support the maintenance of a strong operational control environment.
- Develop and maintain ETL scripts for data acquisition, transformation, and controlled loading into operational databases.
- Write and optimize SQL queries, VBA code, and macros to administer, validate, and analyze structured data for operational and audit purposes.
- Adhere to IT controls, change-management protocols, and security standards.
- Communicate with clients regarding data transmission requirements, validation issues, and discrepancy resolution.
- Liaise with internal teams to support audits, retrocession business, and reporting.
- Support stakeholders with data extracts, validations, and discrepancy resolution related to administered data sets.
- Contribute to data and process enhancement initiatives, including testing and documentation.
- Participate in client audits by supporting audit-related data validation and reconciliation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance data quality, efficiency, and control effectiveness.
Requirements
- Proficiency in SQL, Python and Microsoft Office; VBA preferred.
- Familiarity with audit and quality assurance principles.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Basic knowledge of re/insurance principles.
- Basic French is an asset.
- Detail-oriented, analytical thinker with a passion for solving complex problems.
- Intellectual curiosity, professional integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to communicate effectively and think creatively.
- 1-3 years of TAI Experience.
