About the Role
As an experienced Network Engineer, you will maintain the stability and performance of core modern enterprise infrastructure and systems. This role involves a mix of BAU responsibilities, service improvements, and project implementation within a cloud-first environment.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of specific network systems and services throughout their lifecycle.
- Ensure service availability, performance, security, and supportability standards are met.
- Manage escalated technical issues and deliver sustainable resolutions within agreed SLAs.
- Build effective relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers and delivery teams to implement network solutions.
- Contribute to network design activities alongside the architecture team.
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance performance, resilience, security, and efficiency.
- Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities across the network estate.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on future service and technology direction.
- Maintain high-quality design, implementation, and operational documentation.
Requirements
- Currently operating at an experienced network engineer level.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments.
- Demonstrable experience leading delivery across project and service lifecycles.
- Ability to adapt and take ownership of multiple network technologies and disciplines.
- Proven experience working within a technical team and managing competing priorities.
- Strong experience working in a stakeholder-facing environment.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching (Nexus and Catalyst).
- Experience with SD-WAN, Wireless, and remote access solutions.
- Experience with enterprise cloud networking, ideally Microsoft Azure IaaS.
- Practical experience with IP routing protocols (OSPF, MP-BGP) and fabric technologies (VXLAN, EVPN).
- Experience managing network security technologies including firewalls and Cisco ISE.
- Experience managing core network services such as DNS, NTP, and DHCP.
- Experience or strong interest in automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
