About the Role
La Salle Academy is seeking an exceptional educational leader to serve as its next Assistant Principal for Academics & Student Life. This role is for a builder, an instructional leader, a mentor, and a highly visible administrator who believes deeply in young people and is excited to help shape the next chapter of La Salle Academy. The Assistant Principal will partner with the Principal in supporting the day-to-day academic, operational, and student life functions of the school.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Principal to maintain a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
- Support curriculum development, instructional innovation, and academic planning.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide meaningful coaching and feedback to faculty.
- Promote instructional best practices and support teacher professional growth.
- Collaborate with department chairs to strengthen curriculum alignment and student achievement.
- Monitor student academic progress and implement intervention strategies when necessary.
- Support the development of innovative academic programs that enhance student experience.
- Lead student discipline with consistency, fairness, compassion, and accountability.
- Foster a school culture rooted in respect, responsibility, belonging, and personal growth.
- Build positive and meaningful relationships with students and families.
- Support attendance initiatives, behavioral interventions, and student success plans.
- Serve as a highly visible presence throughout the school day, interacting positively with students and staff.
- Promote student leadership opportunities, school spirit, and community engagement.
- Partner closely with the Principal in overseeing the daily operation of the school.
- Assist with supervision schedules, student activities, assemblies, and special events.
- Coordinate faculty supervision and support operational excellence throughout the school.
- Support school safety initiatives, emergency preparedness, and crisis response planning.
- Participate in retreats, liturgies, parent programs, admissions events, and community-building activities.
- Serve as a collaborative member of the leadership team, helping strengthen faculty morale and organizational culture.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field preferred.
- New York State School Building Leader (SBL) Certification preferred.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching and/or school leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success working with high school students and faculty.
- Strong instructional leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supporting curriculum development, faculty supervision, student discipline, and school operations preferred.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic and Lasallian education.
