About the Role

Responsible for trading and managing the risk for the EMFX Trading book (ZAR Focus), actively monitoring markets for opportunities, generating trade ideas, and managing daily profit and loss reporting.

Responsibilities

• Trading and managing risk for the EMFX Trading book (ZAR Focus).
• Actively monitoring markets for opportunities in EMFX markets (primarily EMEA).
• Generating trade ideas and market comments to increase business footprint.
• Managing daily profit and loss reporting.
• Utilizing quantitative knowledge for relative value analysis and valuation.
• Understanding a wide variety of market instruments and pricing complex risk.

Requirements

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• MSc or PhD in mathematics, physics, or a similar quantitative subject.
• Extensive know-how of EM market dynamics, in EMEA/ZAR ideally.
• Experience in frontier markets.
• Deep understanding of Macro HF, Macro RM, Cross asset funds and corporate client base.
• Strong technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Entrepreneurial mindset.
• Practical problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex information quickly and accurately.
• Familiarity with market making tools.
• Experience using Bloomberg and advanced Excel.
• This role is deemed as a Certified role and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
