About the Role

This position is responsible for new business identification and development, managing and monitoring group companies, and providing new initiatives to contribute to the growth of group companies through collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders. The role involves researching industries, analyzing financial status, leading cost and market analyses, and implementing business strategy from beginning to exit.

Responsibilities

  • Identification, evaluation, and execution of new business opportunities mainly in the Food & Retail industries.
  • Conduct market surveys to study the business potential for projects and business models.
  • Provide manager with detailed reports and recommendations for business opportunities.
  • Research business opportunities by determining partners and Mitsui's role.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with prospective partners, investors, portfolio companies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintain existing business with clients utilizing established business relationships/networks.
  • Support and drive the development of strategy and methodology for projects.
  • Recommend new business models, initial introduction for start-up services, and marketing plans.
  • Perform cost analyses, prepare cash flow statements, and develop marketing plans.
  • Analyze financial indicators and other aspects of deals to ensure a positive impact on Mitsui USA’s reputation.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of department’s growth strategies and strategic initiatives.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, new business models, and economic conditions to adapt business strategies.
  • Identify and capture synergies across Mitsui portfolio companies to support growth and value creation.
  • Support strategic initiatives including acquisitions, investments, operational improvement programs, and new business launches.
  • Monitor and analyze the financial statements of group companies and communicate with MUSA corporate departments.
  • Recommend initiatives and action plans to improve group companies' performance.
  • Maintain close contact with MUSA’s corporate departments and report on group companies' status.
  • Coordinate communication with management and employees of group companies to implement action plans.
  • Consult with GM to implement approved strategies and initiatives on group companies.
  • Keep related parties informed of terms and timelines of action plans.
  • Provide hands-on support to group companies through communication and collaboration with MUSA’s other business divisions, Mitsui-Tokyo, and other invested companies/partners.
  • Participate in all initiatives and action plans as requested by leadership.
  • Manage assigned workstreams independently under the guidance of GM and senior leadership.
  • Participate in other assignments and projects as requested by GM and/or senior management.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven (7) years experience or a combination of training and experience.
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field required.
  • MBA Degree preferred.
  • Expertise of assigned industries and how to conduct detailed research and report writing.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including analysis of industry trends, market data, business plans and financial statements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate diverse stakeholder interests while maintaining a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated interest in long-term career growth within Mitsui or Mitsui-owned businesses.
  • Ability to understand and operate effectively within Mitsui’s business culture and in cross-cultural environments.
