About the Role
As Product Director, Accounting Core, you will own the accounting engine at the heart of Shine's platform. This role involves evolving foundational infrastructure and shipping critical compliance deliverables for accountant and SMB customers across Europe.
Responsibilities
- Own the Accounting Core roadmap end-to-end, balancing near-term compliance deliverables with long-term architecture.
- Lead and develop product teams, setting high standards for discovery and delivery.
- Drive cross-market compliance coverage for bookkeeping, VAT, journal management, and statutory reporting.
- Define the accounting engine architecture for the next phase in partnership with engineering leadership.
- Act as the voice of Accounting Core, translating domain complexity for adjacent teams and leadership.
- Track key metrics including bookkeeping completion rates, compliance coverage, and engine health.
Requirements
- Deep accounting or bookkeeping domain knowledge, including double-entry bookkeeping, chart of accounts design, VAT reconciliation, and statutory exports.
- Experience leading product teams on complex, foundational B2B SaaS products, preferably in accounting, ERP, or fintech.
- Ability to balance shipping near-term deliverables with building for scale.
- Comfort operating under operational pressure, sequencing compliance deliverables, and making architectural trade-offs on a live platform.
- Proven ability to lead with confidence and empathy through change, setting outcome-based goals.
- AI fluency, including using AI tooling, critically evaluating AI's impact on accounting software, and shaping product bets involving AI capabilities.
- Comfort owning cross-team dependencies and sequencing under pressure.
- Precise communication skills with engineers, accountants, and leadership.
