About the Role

Stantec is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Structural Engineer to lead work on medium and large projects, and to manage and grow a team of Structural Engineers supporting local and national projects. The Principal Structural Engineer will be able to evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.

Assists with the development of design standards
Directly manages and mentors other engineers, engaging, developing, and retaining top talent
Hires top-tier talent focused on meeting strategic objectives
Mentors existing staff and works with them to create career paths and track growth
Participates in the development, dissemination, and implementation of a business plan

Requirements

Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes
Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic and wind design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards
Deep understanding and working knowledge of steel framing (including lateral systems for seismic), concrete framing (including lateral systems for seismic), wood framing, and timber
Ability to communicate concepts and ideas effectively to a diverse audience
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness
Ability to manage time to meet project budget and schedule
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings
Ability to engage in creative and critical thought
Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)
Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)
Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.)
Experience with Big Room meetings and HCAI design experience is required
Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
