About the Role

This role involves maintaining and servicing mechanical equipment, machinery, and components, performing skilled repairs on mechanical, electrical, and building systems. The position requires conducting inspections, identifying parts, and ensuring all work complies with safety procedures and cGMP guidelines. You will also be responsible for preventive maintenance, responding to demand maintenance calls, troubleshooting systems, and maintaining detailed maintenance records.

Responsibilities

Make repairs or modifications to production equipment utilizing skills in controls, drawings, electrical, general mechanics, hand tools, hydraulics, machine shop, piping systems, PLC knowledge, pneumatics, RF, troubleshooting, welding, and programming.
Perform installation, checkout, and start-up of new or modified plant production equipment.
Perform PMs on production equipment to prevent failure and improve reliability.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with supervisors, customers, dispatch, and peers regarding equipment repairs or problems.
Contact vendors, research problems, identify potential components, and order maintenance machine parts.
Track and turn in repairable flagged parts.
Elevate part issues to supervisor/management quickly with potential solutions.
Assist with providing facts and details for formal investigations.
Establish data communications with plant systems and equipment, upload and download PLC programs, and troubleshoot using ladder logic and other diagnostic tools.
Develop and implement safety-related improvements jointly with your supervisor.
Maintain safety-related guards and other systems on your equipment.
Review and implement corrections to Lockout/Tagout procedures and drawings.
Complete all required training on time, including TPC, safety, GMP, or CAPA related training.
Maintain plant tools, calibrated instruments, and toolboxes in compliance with cGMP and SOP.
Adhere to cGMP guidelines, SOPs, general plant policies/rules, and specific job-related SOP.
Work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of employees.
Evaluate rejects to determine corrective action.
Determine equipment issues to minimize downtime, manage cost, and reduce product loss.
Communicate daily with production operators and dispatch regarding equipment or process issues.
Elevate issues and work with the supervisor as necessary to correct them.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

Master troubleshooters, support project teams as a technical SME, write troubleshooting guides.
Act as Train-the-Trainer for other mechanics.
Possess well-rounded electro-mechanical skills and basic programming knowledge.
Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
May lead others during project-specific activities.
Trains new/current employees with respect to documentation and department procedures.
May provide input on performance evaluations to area manager.
Must be able to use tools such as voltage and amperage meters, oscilloscope, megger, hand tools, measurement tools like calipers and micrometers, and PLCs and associated software.
Must be able to use Outlook mail.
Must be able to work overtime as needed (including weekends), adjust schedule quickly, and be willing to be called in to meet operational demands.
Maintain and provide company with current working phone number.
May be required to become Qualified Fellow Employee (QFE) and/or instruct other employees.
Must be able to pass GMP and area certifications.
Utilizes troubleshooting tools to investigate issues to the root cause and implements appropriate countermeasures.
Actively searches for improvement opportunities and communicates observations to management.
Sustains solutions by promoting cross-shift and platform inclusion.
Actively seeks opportunities to perform equipment maintenance with no disruption to the business.
Consistently meets PM standards and looks for opportunities to improve the PM process.
Investigates issues beyond routine inspections and performs complex repairs as a means of prevention.
Sets the example of 'Leading From Every Chair' by exhibiting excellent communication skills up, down, across the organization.
Actively provides and seeks feedback from peers and management to improve relationships.
Looks for opportunities to help others without direction from management.
Promotes sustainment efforts of process improvements by adhering to new guidelines at all shifts and platforms.
Utilizes various improvement tools including Gemba Walks, 5-WHYS, and Value Stream Mapping to identify and eliminate waste.
Routinely meets efficiency stretch goals in a safe and quality-focused manner.
Understands complex equipment operations across multiple platforms.
Performs effective changeovers across multiple platforms.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
Must be able to lift max of 50 lbs. unassisted.
Must be able to lift and move equipment/parts up to 600 lbs. assisted.
Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
