About the Role

Expressive Beginnings Child Care is seeking a warm and caring Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Teacher passionate about working with 4- and 5-year-old children to facilitate learning through play in a fun and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee UPK classroom from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise the program consistent with center policies, philosophy, and curriculum.
  • Collaborate with Greece Central School District to help children meet school standards.
  • Ensure classroom compliance with all NY state regulations.
  • Maintain required documentation and input data for the district (report cards, assessments).
  • Gear program to the needs of individual children, considering their interests, special needs, talents, and pace of learning.
  • Teach proper health care, including toileting, nutrition, dental, and physical care.
  • Ensure the classroom is cleaned and sanitized.
  • Maintain the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom.
  • Communicate with parents regarding their child's information and daily activities.
  • Inform the Director of any parent concerns.
  • Conduct at least two conferences with UPK parents.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and conferences required for staff and UPK.
  • Attend any trainings scheduled by the GCSD for UPK or District Professionals.
  • Complete training required by OCFS licensing, including Foundations of Health and Safety, Mandated Reporter Training, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and ACE's.
  • Work effectively with team members to plan for and assess children.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.

Requirements

  • Must have a NY state teaching certification birth through Second or Birth through Sixth.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of NY state child care regulations.
  • Must be a sensitive, mature person able to relate well to both children and adults.
