About the Role
Under the direction of Dining Services management, this role supports back of house functions, front of house operations, and catering functions within Dining Services.
Responsibilities
- Supports Dining Services in various capacities including dish room operations, dining room assistance, food preparation, catering support, line serving, and retail food service.
- Cleans dishes and kitchen area.
- Greets and assists guests, clears tables, maintains table set-ups and bus stations, and cleans the dining room and outdoor food service areas.
- Prepares salad and fruit bars, and other prep needs as assigned.
- Prepares, delivers, and serves food in venues across campus.
- Supplies and maintains dining room buffet lines and beverage set-ups.
- Supports retail operations by scooping ice cream, completing short-order cooking orders, and preparing other menu items.
- Follows proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Serves as a customer service agent through positive and friendly guest interactions.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Works weekends, evenings, night shifts, and/or holidays as part of a 24-hour operation.
Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to operate cooking and food preparation equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to stand, walk, and kneel for prolonged periods.
- Physically able to access and navigate all areas of dining and catering services.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in excessive heat and cold.
