About the Role
The Financial Times is seeking a graphics journalist for its Visual and Data team. This role involves creating high-quality visuals and web pages, collaborating with diverse teams, and using technical skills to explain news to readers.
Responsibilities
- Identify stories suitable for visual storytelling, ranging from major global events to long-running themes.
- Collaborate with designers, editors, reporters, and engineers to integrate data, multimedia, and text for reader communication.
- Produce embeddable graphics for fast-paced stories and in-depth visual projects.
- Work with reporters across the FT's global network.
Requirements
- Interest in global business, finance, economics, geopolitics, trade, and tech.
- Awareness of visual storytelling and data visualization techniques.
- Experience creating bespoke data visualizations and multimedia layouts using React or similar web frameworks.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R or Python, with strong statistical thinking.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative spirit.
- Ability to adapt to changing technical and editorial needs under tight deadlines.
- Skilled in multitasking, managing multiple projects, and owning the visual aspects of stories.
- Experience using AI tools responsibly, ensuring quality and accuracy.
