About the Role

Dillon’s Structures Transportation Discipline is seeking a Structural (Bridge) CAD Designer/Drafter to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals, working on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff in the development of detailed design contract packages.
  • Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of transportation structures.
  • Complete detailed design drafting for a variety of project types.
  • Apply 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and other specialty programs to produce design drawings.
  • Prepare construction drawings/documents.
  • Calculate quantity take-offs for concrete volumes, reinforcement, and miscellaneous steel for complex structures.
  • Assist with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information.
  • Coordinate and complete site assessments, construction observation and construction management of site documentation.
  • Complete OSIM inspection and reporting.
  • Undertake business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.
  • Commit to self-development, ongoing learning, and professional development.
  • Drive continuous learning and mentor junior staff in data science and digital project delivery methodologies.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Requirements

  • 2-7 Years of experience in the engineering consulting industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Proficient use of current AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of Revit software and / or Microstation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration is considered an asset.
