About the Role
Allied Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cloud Data Migration Engineer to play a key role within a high-impact technical services team, migrating Oracle workloads to AWS.
Responsibilities
- Support full-load, CDC, and real-time streaming data migration architectures using AWS DMS.
- Utilize strong expertise in AWS infrastructure and networking (VPCs, subnets, security groups, VPNs, Direct Connect).
- Leverage cloud-native services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda).
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Apply experience with ETL/ELT processes, migration planning, cutover and rollback strategies.
- Automate processes using Python/Bash/PowerShell.
- Monitor systems through CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
- Communicate effectively and modernize legacy on-premises systems in hybrid cloud environments.
- Understand business objectives and problems, identify alternative solutions, and perform cost/benefit analysis.
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or improve existing computer systems.
- Confer with personnel to analyze operational procedures, identify problems, and define input/output requirements.
- Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and development steps.
- Review computer system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in IT, supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of technology solutions.
- 8 years of experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate data from Oracle to AWS.
- 8 years of experience with batch and real-time data ingestion, including full loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures.
- 8 years of experience with AWS cloud services, specifically designing and implementing infrastructure and networking (VPC, subnets, security groups, routing).
- 8 years of experience with core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda) and infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation or Terraform).
- 8 years of experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies in cloud migration projects.
- 8 years of experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- 8 years of experience configuring and managing cloud network security, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and security groups.
- 8 years of experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail).
- 8 years of experience developing data migration and cutover plans, including rollback strategies and minimizing downtime.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including documenting technical designs and migration runbooks.
- 8 years of experience with hybrid cloud/on-premises connectivity and legacy system modernization.
- 4 years of experience working in public sector or state government environments.
