About the Role
East Penn Manufacturing is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Backup Route Driver to join their team. This role involves dedicated driving with a consistent schedule and pay, along with onsite management and regular customer deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Pulling orders, loading and unloading trucks, and loading batteries for customers.
- Delivering and picking up freight from specified customer locations.
- Verifying freight with shipping papers.
- Driving according to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, state and local laws, and hazardous material regulations.
- Navigating highways and maneuvering vehicles in various situations.
- Inspecting vehicles for defects before and after each trip.
- Maintaining a Driver's Daily log.
- Preparing shipping papers for freight received.
- Interacting with customers during deliveries or pickups.
- Performing warehouse work using material handling equipment.
Requirements
- Must be highly motivated and have good communication skills.
- Candidate may be requested to work overtime.
- Forklift experience required on both stand up and sit down forklifts.
- Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with Endorsements for Air Brakes and Hazmat (endorsements not required prior to employment but obtainment required during probationary period).
