About the Role

As part of the 2nd line of defense, you will join a team of technology risk professionals to ensure the business identifies, assesses, and responds to key risks. You will collaborate with stakeholders across all three lines of defense while growing your expertise in risk management and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and execution of the technology risk management framework.
  • Coordinate with the 1st Line of Defence and oversight functions to develop and improve risk management frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Provide independent oversight and analysis of risks through various assessments including Risk and Control Assessments and Compliance Risk Assessments.
  • Monitor and provide oversight of the technology control environment.
  • Assist with technology risk-related regulatory examinations and conduct reviews to identify risks and monitor remedial actions.
  • Promote risk awareness and a culture that leverages risk insights for better decision-making.
  • Support risk reporting processes including quarterly CRO updates.
  • Share innovative approaches for effective risk oversight and monitoring.
  • Support technology risk management projects and activities.
  • Strengthen the technology risk posture by promoting practices aligned with risk management policies and appetite.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in technologies such as Cloud, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in Technology Risk covering information security, cloud computing, infrastructure, architecture, and engineering.
  • Deep understanding of large financial organizations in a regulated environment.
  • Experience across three lines of defense, with 2nd line experience strongly preferred.
  • Successful completion of CISA, CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, or equivalent certifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of federal and provincial technology risk regulatory requirements (OSFI, FSRA, AMF, BCFSA).
  • Knowledge of industry best practices such as COBIT, NIST, and ISO standards.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms including Azure, AWS, and GCP.
  • Experience in key technologies such as Cloud, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Exposure to data analytic tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and translate risk in the context of business objectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables.
  • Demonstrated capability to build relationships, influence change, and build consensus.
  • Experience with ServiceNow GRC or other GRC platforms is an asset.
