About the Role

Crain Communications is seeking an experienced design and creative leader to oversee creative development and production for marketing initiatives across its portfolio of brands. This role involves leading an in-house design team and external partners to ensure consistent, high-quality brand representation across all marketing touchpoints and customer journey stages.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and produce integrated marketing creative for subscription, events, and advertising businesses.
  • Evolve brand visual and verbal representation, establishing and maintaining creative guidelines.
  • Optimize the creative development operating model, including workflow and project management.
  • Manage and produce marketing assets for web, digital, advertising, social media, sales enablement, email, print, and direct mail.
  • Manage and motivate the internal design team to produce ambitious work and incorporate data into creative practices.
  • Select, manage, and maintain relationships with external agencies and freelancers.
  • Stay current with industry trends and tools to ensure evolving visual and verbal identity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, programming, marketing, advertising, or related field.
  • Online portfolio demonstrating creative work that unifies strategy and execution across various channels, audiences, and aesthetics.
  • 7+ years of experience in creative roles at a digital publication, creative agency, or consumer brand.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a management position.
  • Experience developing and producing holistic, integrated campaigns across digital, motion, OOH, and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, performance metrics, and insights to inform creative approach.
  • Fluency with digital content art direction and production, directing internal and external resources.
  • Hands-on experience with typography and image standards for web.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, and related design production software.
  • Strong managerial and mentoring skills.
  • Partner-oriented communicator capable of simplifying complex ideas and presenting confidently.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and communicate progress.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and freelancers.
